Long serving BWS member STANLEY BANNER RBSA recently revealed that in 1979 he was awarded the Bronze medal at the Royal Institute (R.I.) exhibition for his painting 'Reflections'. The painting is a scene of the canal running through Walsall in the West Midlands. Stan is now in his mid eighties and  is still a prolific watercolour painter and tutor , so...in celebration of Stan's success all those years ago here he is with his medal and winning painting.

ROSE KUDLACEK has once again had paintings juried in to the 149th exhibition of the Society of Women Artists. The expo takes place at the Mall Gallery, London from July 1st-10th 2010. see www.KUDLACEK.CO.UK for further information on Rose and her paintings.

 

May 2010 David Poxon has been elected into the exclusive RI. The Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours. Here he is pictured at the Mall Gallery, London, with the RI President Ronald Maddox. David is only the second BWS member to have been elected into the RI in its 101 year history.

 

 

Exciting News this month is that 2 of our very own BWS members, Gerald Green R.B.S.A www.ggarts.demon.co.uk and David Poxon RI. R.B.S.A. www.davidpoxon.co.uk are amongst only 20 specially invited International Artists, (and only 3 from the U.K.) to participate in the Shanghai Biennial Exhibition which runs from April 15th to October 2010. They are amongst an elite group of invited artists from around the world which include masters of the watercolor medium Ong Kim Seng (Singapore), David Paskett (U.K.), Nicholas Simmons (U.S.A), Alvaro Casagnet (U.S.A), David Taylor (Australia), Joseph Zbukvic (Australia), and Robert Wade The event co-incides with the World Trade Expo being held in Shanghai and the organisers amongst whom is BWS member Chen Xiden (China)   are expecting over 1 million visitors to pass through the Gallery.
